Mon Jul 1: Cead Mile Faille! Depart home on a comfortable coach. Leave Corning Wegman’s 12 noon, Elmira Weis 12:30 pm, Waverly Sally Ann 1 pm, Wegman’s in JC at 2 pm. Rest stop 4 pm, Siamsa Pub, Stroudsburg PA, then on to JFK, check in 6:30 pm; flight time 9:15 pm, overnight, #AE 108 on Aer Lingus.
Tue Jul 2: Arrive in Dublin airport, 9am. Board coach 10am en route to the Boyne Valley, to see Newgrange, Knowth, 12pm, then Hill of Tara, the Hill of Slane, then back to hotel for early check-in and rest. OR, see the Book of Kells, walkabout on Grafton Street and Temple Bar, and meet everyone for dinner and show at Arlington 8pm. Upstairs to bed around 11pm. Wed Jul 3: Hotel breakfast Sam, board coach 9am, Driving tour of Dublin, see Dan O’Connell, Molly Malone, the GPO, Kilmainham Gaol 12noon, Guinness brewery 2pm. Board coach 4pm to Fairyhouse Racecourse for dinner and races! Back to hotel around 10pm.
Thu Jul 4: Hotel breakfast 7am, board coach 8am. Visit the National Stud farm, 9am. Visit St. Brigid’s area of Kildare. Visit the Rock of Cashel and travel through Ireland’s Golden Vale on our way to Cork City, Ireland’s second largest.. Fri Jul 5: Hotel breakfast 8am, board coach 9am. Tour to Cobh and the immigration museum, 10am. See where the Titanic embarked on its fateful voyage, and where so many of our own families left for America. Tour the Jameson Distillery at Midleton, 1pm, Whiskey tasting and light lunch. Back for an afternoon on your own in Cork City, where you can see the English Market, St. Finbarr’s Cathedral, the Grand Parade shopping area and the river Lee. Dinner at hotel, 7pm. Might be a good night for pubbing after dinner.
Sat Jul 6: Hotel breakfast Sam board coach 9am. Drive north through County Cork, and Limerick, under the River Shannon and into County Clare. Lunch in Ennis, a nice walkable market town. After lunch, check in at hotel and head toward Bunratty Folk Park and Castle 3:30, stopping at the famous Durty Nelly’s Pub. Medieval Castle banquet 8:30, then back to hotel. Sun Jul 7: Hotel breakfast Sam board coach 9am. It’s a day tour to the West Clare Peninsula, Keane country. Mass at Church of the Little Ark, 11 am, lunch at Lighthouse Pub. See the family farm and cemetery. Spend a few hours touring Bridges of Ross and Loop Head Lighthouse. Dolphin watch or GAA match in Carrigaholt 4pm. Dinner in Carrigaholt, 6pm, back to hotel 9pm.
Mon. July 8: Hotel breakfast Sam board coach 9am on our way to Galway, through the famous Burren region of County Clare. Ballyvaughan, Lisdoonvarna, and the Cliffs of Moher. Take a few hours to wander Galway, including wine tasting at Sheridan’s 3pm (optional) meet coach at new cathedral, 5pm. Tour along Connemara coast to Ros a Mhil, take 6:30pm ferry to Inis Mor, check in at hotel, 8pm. Dinner at hotel, right away. Music seisiun tonight after dinner. Tue. July 9: Hotel breakfast by 10am. Take your leisure today, take a quiet hike, visit the shops, lunch at the pubs, sit by the sea, or relax at the hotel. Bikes, pony carts, or vans are affordable. Perhaps visit Dun Aengus, ancient fort, nearly 5000 years old, perched atop sea cliffs. Dinner & entertainment at Ti Joe Watty’s pub, with our hosts PJ and Grace, 7 pm.
Wed. July 10: Hotel breakfast, 7 am. Take first ferry Sam back to Ros a Mhil and back to Galway by noon, take your leisure in Galway. Dinner at hotel, 7pm. Thu July 11: Early breakfast 8am, board coach 9am.On to Shannon airport 1 lam, check in for flight #111 at 1pm. Land at JFK 3:30pm; meet bus, rest stop halfway, then home!
