I’m always looking for angels. So far, I’ve only seen them in art.
The Museum of Cadiz has plenty, of all shapes, sizes and styles.
Lighting the way.
The avenging angel brings me to my favorite painting in the entire museum. Here’s the painter and title.
The name means “The Final Judgement.”
Here’s a detail of the angel blowing the trumpet of doom.
There are angels rescuing the righteous.
Amazed and terrified people.
And demons carrying off the damned.
Very intense. I wonder if the painter had nightmares while working on this?
At the end of our visit to Spain this year, we’ll be spending time in the Prado. I’m super eager to see the Goya’s, which sometimes have grotesque subjects like this.
